Arrochar Climbing Club

Arrochar Climbing Club encourages and supports climbing and mountaineering activities to enable young people to enjoy participation whilst being responsible and safe; offering a wide range of experiences, including indoor and outdoor climbing.

The Club aims are for its members to be:

  • Having Fun - no matter at what level or ability someone is participating, the main aim is that they are having fun and enjoying the experiences they have through the Club.
  • Safe - by sharing and following good practice during activities and by adopting a "safety first" attitude.
  • Responsible - understanding the risks involved in activities to themselves and others and taking responsibility for their actions.
  • Effective contributors to society - by taking part in the organisation and management of the Club.

  • And to:
  • Provide a range of experiences by arranging outdoor mountaineering activities, as well as visiting other indoor climbing venues.
  • Promote a positive image of climbing as a sport and activity and of young people who engage in these activities.
  • Lead healthy lifestyles with a positive mental attitude and encourage others to do the same.
  • Involve parents and guardians in activities shared with young climbers, which aims to encourage participation out with the Club in the family unit.
  • Engage and empower the community by providing an accessible and sustainable participation pathway for climbing and mountaineering activities to young people in the surrounding communities. Through this we aim to empower the rich source of energy, creativity and talent of the young people in these communities.

Join us!

Arrochar Climbing WallTo attend the club & become a member, climbers must pay in advance for the next “block” of sessions. Spaces are limited & will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. It may be possible to join midway through a block, if there is a space. Please contact us to enquire about this.
Climbers also need to pay for their annual membership to Mountaineering Scotland for insurance & other benefits.

There are two Sessions per evening:

See below for details of Blocks & session dates.

How to pay:

You will find "pay now" buttons below to pay for your membership - please choose the right ones as the prices are different (the early session is shorter so the hall costs less, however the cost is divided between fewer climbers so it is only a little cheaper!).
You can only pay for one climber to join at a time - please make sure you enter the climber's name in the text box.
If there are no spaces left in a block the payment will not be taken. You will get an email (to the address you give us when paying) from the club within a few days of making the payment confirming your booking.
If there are no spaces left in a block the payment will not be taken. Places are allocated on a first come first served basis.

Block Dates

  • Block 1 is end of August to October holidays
  • Block 2 is end of October to Christmas
  • Block 3 is New Year to Easter
  • Block 4 is end of April to the Summer holidays
Our aim is to run the club at least fortnightly, however our availability for this is a little tricky just now with only 3 volunteers. We would welcome a few more people to volunteer and can easily train you up. Once we have a few more people to help we will be able to run more regular sessions.

In our google calendar you can see dates of club sessions and copy them to your google calendar.

We will not be running the last two evenings of Arrochar Climbing Club due to the Government guidance of isolation during the covid-19 pandemic. The Cadet Centre has kindly agreed to let us move the final two days that you paid for to some time in the future at no cost to us. We hope you are all keeping well and fingers crossed we can start again soon.
